Dr. Hussein Mostafa Moussa Khaled, born on October 18, 1951, in Fadimen, Fayoum Governorate, Egypt, is a professor of oncology at Cairo University and a specialist in cancer medicine. He obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine and Surgery from Qasr Al-Aini, Cairo University, in December 1975, followed by the US Medical Equivalency Certificate in July 1976. He later earned his Master’s Degree in Internal Medicine in 1979 and a Doctorate in Oncology from the National Cancer Institute, Cairo University, in 1986.
Dr. Khaled's professional career began as a resident doctor at the Oncology Department of the National Cancer Institute, Cairo University, from 1977 to 1980. He later became a professor in the same department in January 1997. Over the years, he held several key administrative positions, including Director of Outpatient Clinics (1999-2000), Vice Dean for Environmental and Community Affairs (2000-2002), and Dean of the National Cancer Institute (2002-2008). He was then appointed Vice President of Cairo University for Postgraduate Studies and Research (2008-2011) and briefly served as Acting President of the university in August 2011. In December 2011, he was appointed Minister of Higher Education in Egypt under Prime Minister Kamal Ganzouri’s government, where he also took on the temporary role of Acting Minister of Health for 20 days..
